For one, the choice of hinges for cabinet doors is largely dependent on the type and style of your cabinets. There are basically two types of cabinets, one that is frameless and the other is face frame. The difference is that the face frame cabinet is, obviously, one in which there is a face frame that overlays the cabinet doors where the hinges are mounted. Traditional cabinets are usually face frame ones. On the other hand, frameless cabinets are those wherein the hinges are mounted on the cabinet itself rather than on a face frame.
